GOP Debate Winner: Hypocrisy
GOP Debate Loser: Truth
LANSING - Hypocrisy won out over the truth in Thursday's GOP gubernatorial debate in Grand Rapids.
"Truth was the biggest loser and hypocrisy was the big winner at Thursday night's GOP gubernatorial candidate debate," Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer said.
Some examples:
1. Mike Cox claims he wants to cut taxes by billions of dollars at the same time his so-called plan would increase spending by hundreds of millions of dollars.
2. Pete Hoekstra says he supports Michigan jobs, but voted against assistance to the auto companies and the hundreds of thousands of jobs they represent.
3. Mike Bouchard, the purchaser of two French helicopters, claims he supports a "Buy American" policy.
4. All four claimed to want to help the unemployed, but opposed extending unemployment benefits.
5. All of them attacked the pay and benefits of hard-working public employees, but refused to give up their lifetime health care.
"These candidates just don't get it," continued Brewer. "Voters are tired of the same old hypocritical politics and they deserve better from the next governor of Michigan."
