Presidential Primary

The Republicans are determined to waste $10 million of taxpayer money on an unnecessary presidential primary on February 28th. 
To make matters worse, they're trying to drag Democrats into it, despite the fact that we have chosen not to participate.
In order to confuse and disenfranchise Democratic voters, Republican Secretary of State Ruth Johnson placed President Obama's name on the February 28th ballot solely to create partisan mischief. Our attempts to keep the President's name off of the ballot were ignored. Therefore, the Michigan Democratic State Central Committee has decided not to enforce the party rule that prevents Democrats from participating in both the presidential primary and the MDP's presidential caucuses on May 5, 2012.
We won't let Republicans confuse or disenfranchise Democrats. Democrats who vote in the primary will not be banned from participating in our caucuses.
Please read the MDSCC's resolution from this past weekend's meeting and share it with at least 10 of your friends. Please post it to your websites and social network accounts. We need to get the word out to alleviate confusion and make sure no Democrats are disenfranchised.

Reception for Senator Carl Levin and Senator Debbie Stabenow

I am very pleased to announce that Senator Stabenow will be joining Senator Levin at the OCDP reception this coming Saturday, May 12th. Senators Levin and Stabenow will be arriving at the Headquarters in Holland sometime between 11:45 am and 12:00 noon. You are invited to join us and meet and greet our two great Michigan Senators prior to their participation in the Tulip Time Parade. The reception will begin at 11:15 so plan on arriving sometime between 11:15 and 11:30. The OCDP Headquarters is located at 1 West 5th Street and Central Avenue in Holland. A light lunch and beverages will be provided. This is a great opportunity to speak with Senator Levin and Senator Stabenow and thank them for standing up for us every day. Walk with Senator Stabenow!

Senator Debbie Stabenow will be walking in the Muziek Parade in Holland this coming Saturday May 12th. She would like some company as she walks. If you would like to walk in the parade with Senator Stabenow, please let me know as soon as possible. The parade will step off at 2 pm, so people need to start lining up at about 1:15 pm. Senator Stabenow will be in Division 1, spot #18, which lines up at the corner of 8th St. and Columbia Ave. Please let me know ASAP if you can join Senator Stabenow so I can inform her staff. You can attend the Reception at the Holland Headquarters beginning at 11:15 on Saturday and be out in time to walk in the Parade, if you choose to participate in both.
